Pine resin:
The resin comes from the common pine.
Resin is a key ingredient of winemaking. It aims to enhance the aroma of wine but also to better preserve it.
In ancient times the storage of wine in amphorae, this was resulting in its rapid deterioration.
So they began to seal the spout with pine retsina, preventing the oxidation of wine by oxygen.
- The preparation of retsina has the same process as the preparation of white wine, we simply add pine retsina during boiling the wort.
- The resin should be added before the start of boiling or during it.
- According to Greek law, the resin we add should not exceed 1 kg / 100kg of must.
- Ideally 200g/100kg.
- Available in 1000gr packaging
Retsina has been recognized by the European Community as an exclusively Greek product and its designation is “wine of traditional designation”.
